A senior officer that leaped to the help of a colleague that got attacked by a knife attacker has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Courage.

Sgt Tim Ansell struggled against 27-yr-old Jacob Brown subsequent to he held a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

Brown initiated the assault as the law enforcement personnel and their colleague, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist after a traffic accident in that location in July 2023.

Brown knifed and cut the two Sgt Ansell and Sergeant Foster before PC Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.

"Policeman attacked," PC Wolstencroft could be heard saying over his communication device.

Officer-mounted and dashcam recording made public by the agency revealed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood up, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a blade extended.

He struck the officer who stumbled and went down to the ground, after which Sergeant Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the ground despite being multiple times hit with the knife.

Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and waited for a open target, concluding the struggle to an end.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "I need something on my throat now, I got knifed in the neck."

Sgt Ansell sustained two lacerations to his throat and further wounds to his limbs and body, while Sgt Foster received slash wounds.

The department reported Sgt Foster used his bare hands to stop his partner's blood loss prior to paramedics arrived.

This most recent honor arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team received organizational Valor Recognitions in late 2023 and the police federation award from the regional union branch in early 2024.

They were also awarded a Area Bravery Award in mid-2024.

"The actions of all three officers eventually rescued each other and ensured no civilians experienced any wounds."

Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, as stated by authorities.
