Much like bad weather hit the north-west the prior day, City blew the visitors aside at the their home ground. It was a convincing three goal triumph for the City coach's side owing to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a result that clearly signaled their leadership claims as they reinforced their position at the WSL pinnacle.

Consecutive Setbacks for Manchester United

This scoreline signalled consecutive WSL defeats for the United manager's side for the first time since spring 2024, leaving them a significant margin off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions severely dented.

Manchester United's ability to juggle domestic and continental soccer with a limited roster has been a hotly discussed issue since they qualified for the European competition.
